Oral and Maxillofacial

This surgery is performed in the day procedure unit at Kew.

When you arrive, you will receive a pre-operative instruction sheet explaining your procedure and discharge.

After surgery, patients recuperate in the recovery area for a minimum of 30 minutes, before being transferred back to their room.

Your surgeon will give you detailed information about what to expect for the initial 2-3 weeks after surgery.  This information covers:

  • swelling
  • bruising
  • pain
  • stitches
  • oral hygiene
  • drains
  • bleeding
  • nausea.

Your surgeon and anaesthetist will prescribe appropriate medications for your hospital stay and following discharge. We will also provide you with suggestions of some suitable foods for this period.

Most patients are discharged on day of surgery.
