Stefan’s training in maternal fetal medicine has afforded him extensive experience in managing complex, high risk pregnancies. He has a particular interest in preterm birth prevention, multiple pregnancy, fetal abnormalities, and maternal medical disorders in pregnancy, but is equally happy caring for women with uncomplicated pregnancies. He is the head of the Fetal Medicine Unit and acting head of the Diabetes Unit at the Royal Women’s Hospital, Melbourne, where he is engaged in teaching and mentoring medical students and junior doctors at all levels.

Academically, Stefan is nearing the end of a PhD through the University of Melbourne Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and holds an appointment as an honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer in the same department. He has published over 35 papers in peer-reviewed journals, and regularly presents at local and international scientific meetings. Stefan serves as honorary Secretary on the Council of the Society of Obstetric Medicine of Australia and New Zealand, and is a member of the steering committees for the Women's and Newborn Health network of the Melbourne Academic Centre for Health, and the Interdisciplinary Maternal Perinatal Australasian Collaborative Trials (IMPACT) Network of the Perinatal Society of Australia and New Zealand.
