In 2014 Tom was awarded a Nuffield Fellowship to undertake further specialist vitreoretinal surgical training and research under Prof Robert MacLaren at the University of Oxford and the John Radcliffe Hospital. Tom has undertaken specialist training in the Vitreoretinal Unit at the Royal Victorian Eye & Ear Hospital (RVEEH) and is an honorary research fellow at the University of Melbourne affiliated Centre for Eye Research Australia, based at the RVEEH. His areas of clinical expertise are diseases of the retina and vitreous, which include management of retinal detachment, macular hole, epiretinal membrane, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration and inherited retinal degenerations.
