Pastoral care and prayer facilities

Our pastoral care staff is part of the hospital team that cares for you during your stay. They provide spiritual and emotional support and sacramental ministry.

Coming into hospital may lead to feelings of isolation, uncertainty and vulnerability. To help with these feelings, you may find it helpful to speak with someone from Pastoral Services.

As well as making pastoral visits to patients, pastoral carers organise and lead prayers for the hospital during the major liturgical observances throughout the year. They can give Communion, the Sacrament of the Sick and the Sacrament of Reconciliation at your bedside.

Our pastoral carers are sensitive to all religious, non-religious and cultural traditions and can help arrange a visit by a chaplain/representative from your own denomination.

To find out more, please ask the pastoral carer on your floor.

Places to pray

The hospital chapels are located to the right of the Ground Floor front entrance at both East Melbourne and Fitzroy. All patients and visitors are welcome.
